Why Would I Want Invisalign?

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments.

How Does Invisalign Work?

You wear each set of aligners for 1 week, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position. You'll visit Leber Orthodontics about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Does Invisalign Hurt?

Both braces and Invisalign will cause dull pain in the process of moving your teeth. Since your teeth don't know whether they're being shifted by metal brackets or plastic aligners, the level of discomfort is usually similar with both treatments. However, with Invisalign, you won’t have to worry about irritation from metal brackets or wires poking your mouth. Invisalign offer a more comfortable, smooth option for straightening your teeth while still being just as effective.

Should I Get Invisalign or Braces?

Braces are fixed to your teeth with wires, so once they're on, there's no taking them off until treatment is complete. You won’t have to worry about forgetting them or not following instructions since they stay in place. Invisalign, on the other hand, uses clear aligners that you can take out, but you’ll need to wear them for about 22 hours each day. At each adjustment visit, you'll get a set of 4-6 new aligners, and each one gently shifts your teeth a little more to their ideal position. Both Invisalign and braces work effectively to give you a straighter smile. For a full comparison, see Braces vs Invisalign.
